Excellence Award - Mechanical Rhythm & Carving Time | 2024 MIYOTA China Watch Design Competition

The 5th MIYOTA China Watch Design Competition, themed "Mechanical Rhythm & Carving Time," officially kicked off in May 2024 and has recently concluded successfully.

Berny's entry, "Messenger of Peace," stood out among numerous contestants and won the Excellence Award.

Design Concept

The outer circle of the watch dial is inspired by the colors of national flags, symbolizing the desire to fill the world with the brilliance of love and peace. The watch is centered around a circle, with no edges or corners, perfectly symmetrical, representing inclusiveness, perfection, and harmony. The inner circle of the dial resembles a flying saucer, showcasing passion and speed. The radial hollowing is regular and elegant, reflecting human intelligence and simplifying complex issues. The handshake symbol on the bottom cover expresses friendliness and goodwill, cooperation and trust.

Design Review

This design is ingeniously crafted, with the Earth-shaped design inside the dome-shaped case that rotates around the center to indicate time. The black and white Earth rotates gracefully every 60 seconds, and the colorful national flag elements are arranged in a touching way, expressing the designer's rich emotions. The gold hour wheel cover plate equipped with the MIYOTA Cal. 90S5 movement adds a new highlight to the design, which is faintly visible when the case is tilted. This innovative design is eye-catching and provides wearers with an unprecedented visual experience
